Adam Booth is the 2022 West Virginia Governor’s Arts Awards Folk Artist of the Year. His original stories blend traditional mountain folklore, music, and an awareness of contemporary Appalachia. Adam’s career highlights from 2026 include taking his original multidisciplinary program The Heron’s Journey to the Winnipeg International Storytelling Festival as a featured artist, returning to the International Storytelling Center as Teller-In-Residence for the fifth time, having his original program story Mr. Patches featured at the National Storytelling Conference in Canyon, Texas, and returning to the Timpanogos Storytelling Festival in Utah for the fourth time.

In 2025 Adam was the featured keynote presenter at the Sydney Australia International Storytelling Conference, a featured artist at the US National Storytelling Festival for the fourth time, and toured The Heron’s Journey on the 2024-2025 Mid Atlantic Arts Touring Roster. 

Booth’s professional telling appearances include premiere storytelling and arts events across the United States, such as the Kennedy Center Millennium Stage, the National Storytelling Festival, the Timpanogos Storytelling Festival, the International Storytelling Center, the National Academy of Sciences, a commission from the National Academy of Medicine, and arts & storytelling events in 32 states. He was a resident at the Banff Centre Spoken Word program in Alberta, Canada. 

Education is an important part of Booth’s storytelling practice. He has taught classes and given presentations at Ghost Ranch, John C. Campbell Folk School, the National Storytelling Conference, the Appalachian Studies Association Conference, Berea Appalachian Sound Archives Fellowship, and the National Endowment for the Humanities Voices from the Misty Mountains summer seminars and institute.
