Residencies
Immersive learning over time
Adam is available for artist residencies at a variety of venues, including art museums, schools, universities, and centers of creativity. During residencies, Adam can share story concerts, create new work in line with the host setting, open an art exhibit, demonstrate elements of Appalachian culture, teach storytelling, and more. His residencies and fellowships include the Huntington Museum of Art, the Banff Center Spoken Word Program, Berea College Sound Archives, and the International Storytelling Center.
Secondary School Residencies
Adam is passionate about providing creative opportunities for secondary students to utilize their experiential knowledge in collaboration with classmates.
Residencies are generally multiple day visits. Planning is a collaborative effort between Adam and the classroom teacher. As a teaching artist, Adam implements instruction and classroom teachers take on the role of co-teacher.
Let me tell you a story.

Appalachian 20th Century Series
Adam's Appalachian 20th Century is a series of original neo-traditional stories that illuminate the Appalachian experience over a hundred years. Each piece combines two traditional tales, sets them in different decades around historical events, and includes regional music. These stories, distinct from Adam's other works, are available for individual concerts.

Ghost Stories and Spooky Tales
Like the scary stuff? So does Adam.
YES, he tells spooky stories. YES, they are scary. YES, people jump and call out during these tales, even high school students and adults! Adam's spooky stories include traditional and original stories about ghosts (haints, haunts, & boogers), witches, inexplicable phenomena, and strange creatures from West Virginia.

House Concerts
A house concert is an exciting, fun way to bring live storytelling into your home. Many house concerts begin with either food & drink provided by the host or a small potluck. This is a party that features intimate entertainment! Adam will tell stories in two sets with an intermission for noshing. House concerts are great opportunities to experience top-notch words art and music only a few feet away from the entertainer.
