HOUSE CONCERTS

Private house concerts are a fantastic way to infuse energy and foster connections at a party. The intimate setting brings the artist close to the audience, creating a shared, engaging experience. Guests feel the raw emotion of the performance, encouraging interaction and spontaneous conversations. Hosting in a home adds comfort and familiarity, making everyone more at ease and open to connecting. This results in a vibrant, memorable event where energy and camaraderie flourish.

HOUSE CONCERT

FAQs

  • A house concert is an exciting, fun way to bring live storytelling into your home. Many house concerts begin with either food & drink provided by the host or a small potluck. This is a party that features intimate entertainment! Adam will tell stories in two sets with an intermission for noshing. House concerts are great opportunities to experience top-notch words art and music only a few feet away from the entertainer.

  • Consider the amount of space you have available in your home and ensure that all visitors will have an unobstructed view of the performance area. Then, invite more people than will fit. Not everyone you invite will be able to attend and you want a full house. Invite friends, family, coworkers, neighbors, and people you know from social networks. While friends-of-friends are fine, avoid inviting complete strangers; you don’t want untrustworthy people in your home.

  • Consult with the storyteller to schedule a date and then invite, invite, invite! Decide what food options you want. Make sure your home is tidy. If you have pets, be sure to clean thoroughly to make your home comfortable for visitors with allergies. Make sure you have plenty of seating. If you need to more chairs, consider borrowing from your community center or religious congregation. And, have a solid agreement with the storyteller as to how the payment will work and what kind of program will be offered. Be sure to let your neighbors know that on the night of the event, more cars will be on the neighborhood streets.

  • You must first decide how you wish to benefit from the concert. In most cases, house concerts financially benefit the storyteller and socially benefit the host. Let the teller know how many people you expect and decide upon a suggested donation. Most house concerts ask for a donation of $15 - $20. What a deal for close-up, live entertainment. You should have a basket by the door to collect cash and checks, and it doesn’t hurt to nudge your guests to support the live artist.
